>I’ve been at it for about two weeks now, and out of all my retail jobs I’ve had (all of three, haha) I’ve enjoyed this one the best. I only had to be trained on the obvious – register and cut table. As far as sewing and crafting stuff, I have a basic knowledge (well sewing probably closer to advanced) and am able to help customers.
Today I was on cut table all day and while it was a 7 1/2 hour shift, I hardly noticed time passing. We were busy! I love cutting fabric and chatting with the customers to see what they’re making and why. I love touching all the fabrics.. yeah, I was that kid in the store when I was little who would touch everything and get yelled at for it.
I just think it’s so interesting how God gives us the desires of our hearts and prepares us for bigger things than we thought. For most, it’d be just a job. But for me, it’s confirmation that sewing/knitting/crafting is one of my God-given gifts and I’m supposed to use it to bless others. It’s just really cool. Not to mention the discount. 😉
Although I really miss my students, and actually get kind of emotional about it even now, I am thankful to have a job that I really enjoy right now. Teaching is my gift, my calling. No one ever told me how hard it would be to leave a job that you absolutely love (not everything about it, but the students are the best part!). I am glad, though, that for a season (and yes I believe it’s only a season), I don’t have to worry about seating charts and lesson plans and which students to put in what groups. I can just enjoy having a job I leave at work, coming home, sewing, knitting or whatever and just resting in that.
